Telstra Corp, Australia’s largest phone operator, should split its retail and wholesale businesses or face legislation that would prevent the company from upgrading its internet operations, the government said Tuesday, reports Bloomberg. Telstra will be barred from acquiring new airwaves for advanced wireless-broadband services unless it complies with the government’s demands – and should complete talks on the split by the end of the year, communications minister Stephen Conroy said on Tuesday.
