Chancellor Philip Hammond has delivered on hints for more spending on social care, with an additional £2bn for adult social care in England over the next three year.
£1bn will be available for 2017-2018.
But he reiterated the party line that “this is not only about money”, saying that some local authorities have a particularly poor record with hospital discharging rates. The government will work on ways to help local authorities that are struggling, he said.
He added that a further £100m will be made available for making GPs available in accident and emergency departments in English hospitals by next winter.
