The pound dropped to a three-month low against the dollar this week as the gloom surrounding the UK economy deepened.

A report on Tuesday showed that UK retail sales fell in April, while a survey from the UK’s Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors revealed that a record number of its members reported house price falls.
