Air France-KLM says oil cost will hit profits

Air France-KLM warned on Thursday that its operating profit could fall by a third this year after fuel prices surged.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta, chairman and chief executive of the world’s largest airline by turnover, said air fares would have to rise as airlines were forced to pass on part of the higher fuel costs to customers. He admitted that the increases could hit demand for air travel.
