Weak dollar and cost cuts help Novartis

ZURICH, July 17 - Second-quarter net profit at Novartis rose 17 per cent to $2.27bn, helped by the weak US dollar and cost cutting efforts, and beating forecasts.

Novartis on Thursday confirmed its full-year forecast for group sales to grow at a mid single-digit percentage rate and drug sales at a low single-digit rate.
