Leaders from Nato nations meet on Sunday May 20 for a summit where Afghanistan is at the top of the agenda. Troops are due to be pulled out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014 but most combat operations are to be wound down by the middle of next year and responsibility for security transferred to Afghan forces.
At the Chicago summit, Nato will outline its planned operations in the country after 2014, and discuss new commitments to training and financing the Afghan security forces.
