Obama pledges to go it alone

President Obama promised 'a year of action' on issues from income inequality to childhood obesity before a packed Congress. But he laced his optimistic rhetoric about the prospects for US investment and economic recovery with clear condemnation of the Republican opponents who have obstructed much of his recent agenda.
