Nov 16: Bank mergers in Spain imminent

In the second part of this week's View from Europe, Miguel ngel Fernández Ordóñez", governor of the Bank of Spain, talks to Victor Mallet, the FT's Madrid bureau chief. He foresees imminent bank mergers in Spain and a dramatic slimming down of the financial sector. He also says the reasons for the successful regulation of Spanish banks during the financial crisis have rested not just on the 'dynamic provisioning' of capital levels but also on 'intense and intrusive' supervision.
