ANDERS ASLUND, ECONOMIST: Lower oil prices, less corrupt

Mar 18: Russia's democracy has failed but its economy is succeeding, according to Anders Aslund, economist and former adviser to President Boris Yeltsin. He tells Quentin Peel, FT international affairs editor, that the high oil price has brought corruption and an authoritarian system. He calls on the Russian government to bring inflation under control and focus on reform of education and health. Anders Aslund is a senior fellow of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and author of Russia's Capitalist Revolution: Why Market Reform Succeeded and Democracy Failed.
