Jun 4: Bao Pu on his father, Zhao Ziyang and Tiananmen legacy
Bao Pu, son of Bao Tong, one of the most prominent Tiananmen-era dissidents still living in China and a onetime aide to former premier Zhao Ziyang shares his memories of the June 4 crackdown. The younger Bao edited and translated Mr Zhao's secret memoirs Prisoner of the State. Bao Pu participated in the 1989 pro-democracy protests in Beijing and says he felt compelled to work on the book to learn what happened to his family whose fate was closely intertwined with the internal power struggle of China's Communist party.
