This year's winner for the Rule of Law and Access to Justice category had joint winners, from White & Case and ACCEPT.

Guys, why do you think that your innovation matters?

Well, for us it matters because when there are more and more voices and fundamentalists and nationalists trying to tear apart Europe, the solution is not giving up on our rights. The solution is actually speaking more about the EU. And our case was about the European identity. It was about values, about dignity and equality, and about what we stand for.

So this is well deserved, but it is not about us. It is about the people that we represent. And we are grateful for that.

And White & Case is delighted to be able to partner with ACCEPT. We think it's a really important issue for Europe, that same-sex marriage and same-sex civil union is recognised everywhere. And we are very happy to do whatever we can to move the law forward in that direction. There's still a way to go, and we are in there for the longer term. But we made a difference, and we're very proud of that.
