Ethiopia stockpiles grain as food prices rocket

The Ethiopian government has launched a large-scale food programme to subsidise the urban poor and avoid the catastrophes of the past. Javier Blas, FT commodities correspondent, reports from capital Addis Ababa on the impact of rocketing grain prices on people's budgets and eating habits. He talks to market traders who say wheat has become like gold and to Josette Sheeran, executive director of the World Food Programme, who says more needs to be done now globally.
