July 28: News Corp 'took on too much'

In the third part of this week's View from the Top, John Malone, chairman of Liberty Media, tells Richard Milne he let Chase Carey, the former chief executive of satellite broadcaster DirecTV, leave for News Corp earlier this year because Rupert Murdoch needed help at the top of the company after losing his closest lieutenant, Peter Chernin. "If Rupert owes you one, you can bank on it you'll collect it somewhere in the future", says Mr Malone.
