Jan 29: Sheffield plugs into digital age

South Yorkshire has witnessed a renaissance in its arts-based and digital software businesses. International music artists are opting for recording studios in Sheffield rather than London and the region was the first in the UK to have 100 per cent broadband connectivity. Such facilities are creating a hotbed for start-up companies, but as Richard Edgar reports, dismal school results and the recession are threatening to stifle this new-found optimism.
