Obama’s Middle East peace challenge

Barack Obama this week made his first trip to Israel since becoming US president. As well as attempting to captivate the Israeli public, Mr Obama also visited Palestinian leaders in the West Bank. FT’s Jerusalem bureau chief John Reed asks whether the US president’s trip will help kickstart the peace process and a two-state solution.
