Rice shortage nears

Robert Zeigler, director general of the International Rice Research Institute and a leading rice scientist, tells Ben Bland, the FT's Vietnam Correspondent, that the world will face a shortage of rice unless production increases and trade barriers erected in the wake of the 2007/2008 food crisis are lowered.
