Wolfgang Schäuble could be in a Cole Porter musical. “It’s delightful” that Germany’s budget deficit will be lower than expected next year, the finance minister said this week. The German economy has been looking rather delicious and de-lovely of late: growth estimates have been raised, factories are busy and unemployment has fallen for 12 straight months. But Germany needs the rest of the world to keep up. Sarah O'Connor analyses the country's recent economic performance.
