Mar 31: Iraq tense after Shia cleric's ceasefire call
March 3110:08 - There is relative calm in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, and the second city of Basra after a radical Shia cleric ordered his fighters off the streets. Moqtada al-Sadr on Sunday told his Mehdi Army militias to stop fighting government troops. The call was welcomed by the Iraqi government which is said to have given guarantees to halt what Sadr's officials call random arrests. But there's no sign the cleric's militias are ready to comply with the government's demand to surrender their weapons.
