Oct 5: Service PMI hints at growth

The Purchasing Managers' Index for the British service sector expanded at the fastest rate since April 2007, rising to 55.3 from 54.1. Any figure above 50 indicates a growth in activity amongst the businesses participating, compared with the month previous.
