Feb 25: RBS annual losses narrow to £3.6bn

Royal Bank of Scotland on Thursday said its loan impairments appeared to have peaked as it reported a smaller-than-expected £3.6bn pro forma net loss for 2009. Chief executive Stephen Hester is going to waive his bonus but the bank is set to announce it will pay bonuses of £1.3bn to its staff. Sharlene Goff, retail banking correspondent, talks to Daniel Garrahan about whether the gesture from Hester will quell public anger and the outlook for the bank.
