Gold leapt as much as 1 per cent on Friday to a five-month high after the US launched a missile strike on Syria.

The yellow metal hit an intraday high of of $1,269.46 an ounce, its highest since November 10. It is currently up 1.1 per cent at $1.265.44 an ounce.
