Oil surges to 4-week high as US launches strike on Syria

Oil prices jumped to one month highs on Friday morning as the US launched a missile strike on Syria.

International benchmark Brent crude rose to an intra-day high of $55.57 a barrel, its highest since March 8. It is up 1.4 per cent at $55.66 a barrel.

The US benchmark West Texas Intermediate surged to an intra-day high of $52.45 a barrel, up 1.5 per cent at $52.50 a barrel.
