After his American rocking bombast of late, it is a relief to find Vieux Farka Touré settling into a subtler, more acoustic mode for this tribute to his country during the political crisis now, with luck, drawing to a close.
The best parts are “Doni Doni” and “Peace”, when Sidike Diabaté’s kora recalls the albums recorded by both men’s parents; or when the Israeli pianist Idan Raichel adds keyboard lyricism to “Ay Bakoy”.
