Durrant, a concert guitarist, conceives this album in the spirit of a family gathered round a fire.

The better parts are instrumental: a renaissance “Winter Danza” to start, segueing into “Good King Wenceslas”, or “An Acoustic Winter Tone Poem” that sounds like a collaboration between Jethro Tull and Sky.

Elsewhere, the arrangements are heavy on the sugar, and a children’s choir is enthusiastically shouty rather than serene.
