An expected 490,000 public sector jobs will be lost as a consequence of Chancellor George Osborne’s £83bn of spending cuts. John Walker, chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, would like to have seen more to encourage growth in the comprehensive spending review as it’s his members who will bear the burden of creating new jobs to replace those lost.
