Trio Dolce Vita: Amarcord

Trio Dolce Vita

The Trio Dolce Vita’s wistful woodwind and plangent strings neatly capture the bittersweet, gently threatening palette of Nino Rota’s film music.

Glockenspiel and organa from clarinettist Claudio Puntin add to the sense that all is not what it seems, and there is extra bite from cellist Jörg Brinkmann’s occasional electronics.

Johannes Fink’s firm double bass gives the title track a hint of Americana, underscores the bleak vision and eventual anguish of “La Strada” and drives the country dance idyll of “Padrino” from The Godfather.
