Eine Alpensinfonie/Till Eulenspiegel
Semyon Bychkov

4 star rating

Bychkov and his Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra prove themselves top-rank Straussians, showcasing the Alpine ascent with gleaming strings, majestic brass and a wonderful sense of spaciousness.

The descent is no less opulent, and Strauss’s prankster-portrait makes a playful coupling. Both performances are full of character.
