Inflation in the Netherlands rose more than expected during April.

The consumer price index rose 1.6 per cent last month from a year earlier, a solid advance on the 1.1 per cent pace registered in March.

Month-on-month, prices were up 0.5 per cent.

The annual EU harmonised CPI lifted to 1.4 per cent, more than double March’s 0.6 per cent, and came in ahead of economists’ forecasts for 1.2 per cent.
