Brian David Stevens captures the sound systems at the Notting Hill Carnival

Pumping up the volume at London’s famous street party

Every August, London’s Notting Hill Carnival celebrates people, parties – and music. Brian David Stevens rose early one year to capture the speaker rigs and sound systems that bring the crowds to life. ‘The speakers look fantastically beautiful,’ he said. ‘I think every street corner should have one’.

A limited set of screen-prints from the series is available from tartaruga.co.uk, and a limited edition photo book/zine is available from Café Royal books. An exhibition of the series (screen-printed by Tartaruga) is on show at The Social in London until September 30.
