Donald Trump sought to rebuke reports of his ties to Putin in a tweet this morning, while also comparing business deals to those of diplomacy.

Mr Trump reiterated that he has no business deals in Russia and suggested that even he does, he should not be criticised for them given that Barack Obama had made a nuclear agreement with Iran.

“I don’t know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy – yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!”

Mr Trump’s tweet comes just days after he defended Mr Putin’s human rights record, saying the US was no better than Putin’s Russia.

His comment also come amid continuing sensitivity over Trump’s Russian policy and ongoing congressional probes of Moscow’s alleged interference in last year’s presidential election.
