Plays Nat King Cole En Español

The high-octane saxophonist’s sultry re-interpretation of the South American melodies that the late Nat King Cole recorded in Spanish and Portuguese is an evocative tribute to both singer and song. Murray caresses each melody before soaring over sensitive strings, while elegant brass riffs emphatically to well-worked rhythms – like Cole, Murray gained authenticity by recording in Havana; the strings were added in Portugal. The album hangs together beautifully, and the ballad “No Me Platiques” is a Murray tour de force.
