The Ivey school at the University of Western Ontario has appointed Robert Kennedy of Michigan Ross as its next dean. He will succeed Carol Stephenson, who joined the school following a career in the IT industry.
Prof Kennedy is currently executive director of the William Davidson Institute, a non-profit research centre at Ross that focuses on business and policy in emerging market economies and his research focuses on business issues in developing countries. He also teaches corporate strategy and international business courses in the MBA and EMBA degrees as well as in Ross’s executive education programmes.
An economist by training - he holds undergraduate degrees from Stanford, an MBA from MIT and a PhD from Harvard - Prof Kennedy Kennedy taught at Harvard Business School for eight years before joining Ross in 2003.
Prof Kennedy praises Ivey’s commitments to case study teaching. “Ivey [has a] commitment to research, teaching and engagement with the real world, particularly in its commitment to case method learning. This is how I’ve managed my career and I am thrilled to have an opportunity to work with this community of scholars, students, practitioners and alumni.”
