Conversations’ poise belies the fact it’s London-via-Cumbria band Woman’s Hour’s debut album.

The songs are dreamy, especially Fiona Burgess’s softly sung vocals, but they’re also precisely constructed, each instrument weighted against the other. The result is a restrained, soulful variety of indie-pop, reminiscent of London Grammar but not as bloodless.
