Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium is to appoint a Swede as its next dean. This summer Anders Aspling will take over from Roland Van Dierdonck, who has been the head of the school for nearly 10 years.

Prof Aspling is senior associate of the MIL Institute, a Swedish business school specialising in executive education. Prior to this he was president of IFL, the Swedish Institute of Management, for seven years and senior vice president of SIAB, the Swedish construction and real estate company, for five years. He has been a member of the board of the European Federation of Management Development (EFMD) since 1996.

He has spent the past few years creating and developing the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative, a collaboration between EFMD and the UN Global Compact, intended to ensure that the next generation of global leaders act in a socially responsible fashion.
