Porsche, the sports car manufacturer, is to sponsor a chair of strategic management and family business at HHL, the Leipzig-based business school, for an undisclosed sum. The sponsorship is for an initial term of five years.

The first holder of the chair will be Stephan Stubner, who has been academic director of HHL’s programme for international entrepreneurship since 2007.

Lutz Meschke, chief finance office of Porsche, says the company stands by its roots as a family business. “The new chair is an ideal symbiosis of science and economy and offers young people and managers a facility to link theory with practical experience – because that is what it is about.”

Former politician Andreas Pinkwart, dean of HHL, says the chair will be in the Strategic and International Management academic group at HHL, which “encompasses all of the professorships and centres with a direct relation to entrepreneurial decision-making”.
