The US House of Representatives’ scheduled vote this afternoon on healthcare legislation has been postponed, according to several media reports.

Despite the White House’s assurances that the vote on the bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act would go forward at 3:30 pm Eastern time, the House abruptly went into recess while Republicans were said to be holding a closed door meeting to determine whether to move forward with a vote on the bill, as its chances of success appear increasingly unlikely.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has said he will give an update on the legislation at 4 pm Eastern time. More to come…
