Berkeley students get sustainable funding

Business schools are increasingly working with other university departments and UC Berkeley is no exception. The Haas school of business and Berkeley’s College of Chemistry are building on California’s green credentials and developing a programme in sustainable products and solutions together.

The programme has received initial funding of $2m from the Dow Chemical Co. Foundation and will be based at the Center for Responsible Business at Haas. The plan is for Dow to give $10m over the next five years and to help the programme secure additional sponsors.

The programme will focus on sustainability issues involving society, science, engineering, the environment and finance and will fund projects from master and doctoral level students at Berkeley - everything from expanding clean drinking water supplies to exploring the carbon footprint of a company’s supply chain.
