The good people of Nashville tut-tut and shield their children’s ears. It’s country music rebel Eric Church, rocking out on his US number one hit The Outsiders.
Less easily shocked listeners will enjoy the cartoon posturing; also the humour underpinning Church’s bad-boy persona, as when he laments his gal grabbing a beer and walking out on him in “Cold One”. “Yeah she had to leave,” Church gruffly laments over boogying riffs, but damn – “did she have to leave me one beer short of a 12 pack?”
