This crystalline recording captures a 2011 concert by the Iranian musician Kayhan Kalhor on kamancheh, a traditional spike fiddle, and his Anatolian counterpart Erdal Erzincan on baglama, a form of Eastern Mediterranean lute.

The two men build off a series of traditional Persian and Turkish tunes, punctuated with breathstopping improvised passages with roots centuries old, culminating in 10 minutes of ‘Intertwining Melodies’ from both cultures.
