Aaaaaaand we are back down.

Technology stocks failed to hang to their slim gains and the Nasdaq Composite briefly entered correction territory after dropping as much as 2 per cent on Thursday.

A correction is defined as a fall of 10 per cent or more from a recent peak. At its session low of 7,274.03, the Nasdaq was down 10.5 per cent from the intraday high it hit on August 30.

Just one hour and 15 minutes to go before the markets close. Hang on tight everyone.
