Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – film review

Chris Pine is going about being younger versions of everyone. Yesterday Star Trek’s Jim Kirk. Today Jack Ryan, Tom Clancy’s CIA hero, who later became Harrison Ford with a brief outing as Alec Baldwin. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is directed by Kenneth Branagh, who treats himself to a guest turn as the Russian villain. The historical/geopolitical calendar is a little topsy-turvy. We begin with 9/11, then go into a cold war-style showdown in Moscow. Perhaps Islamophobia has become too yesterday. Keira Knightley, like Kim Basinger in Grudge Match, brings grace and charisma when all about are losing theirs.
