Donald Trump said he is expecting a “very difficult” meeting with China’s president when they meet next week.
The US president said on Twitter that the US can “no longer have massive trade deficits and job losses”, adding that, “American companies must be prepared to look at other alternatives”.
Mr Trump has in the past argued that China has intentionally devalued its currency to boost its exports to the rest of the world, including to the US. And the businessman has promised to enact an America first agenda that brings more manufacturing jobs away from countries like China that have low labour costs.
China confirmed earlier on Thursday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet meet Mr Trump in Florida next week.
