Before Beverley Martyn was a folk singer and muse (alongside her then husband John Martyn) she was a jug-band belter – those who saw her at last year’s tribute concert to Bert Jansch will attest to the continuing power of her voice.

The Phoenix And The Turtle runs the gamut of both, from the Nick Drake collaboration on the Parisian ballad “Reckless Jane” to the vocal curlicues of “Jesse James”.
