BNP Paribas on Wednesday appointed a new chief executive for its wealth management business in the Asia Pacific region.

The French bank said Pierre Vrielinck has taken over the CEO job, while Mignonne Cheng, the outgoing CEO who held the position for six years, would continue as chairman.

Ms Cheng has worked at BNP for 26 years. The bank said it doubled assets under management in Asia during the time she led business. Mr Vrielinck has served as BNP’s CEO wealth management in Switzerland and emerging markets.

BNP Paribas was the 10th largest private bank in Asia in 2015 with $64.5bn in assets under management, according to Asian Private Banker.
