But the Brit School dropout has a more languorous and reflective style, as shown by the jazzy saxophone blowing suggestively at the fringes of “ ‘Bout You” and the trip-hop revivalism of “Rats”, complete with whispery Tricky-style vocals. Despite the echoes, This Thing of Ours is indeed a thing of hers.
