From Mr Derek Robinson.

Sir, There is one apparent flaw in Jan Harrington’s proposal (“Two steps to solve Assange problem”, Letters, August 21), that Julian Assange could obtain diplomatic immunity if he were to be given Ecuadorean citizenship and diplomatic status. This is that citizenship can be conferred only upon people who have been resident in Ecuador for three years. Perhaps encampment for three years at the embassy will do the trick.
