The “$300 house project” scoops video award

Tuck business school is the winner of social enterprise challenge

A project to develop a house that costs just $300 has one first prize for the Tuck school of business in the Global Business School Network annual video competition. The video describes how MBA students from Dartmouth College applied business school skills to address the need for low-cost housing in Haiti.

Runner-up in the competition was a video from students at UNC Kenan-Flagler about their consultancy projects in eastern Africa that focused on sustainability.Third place went to a student from Thunderbird, Ilaha Eli Omar, who outlined on camera her experience in a slum in Nairobi helping to improve drainage and to establish a sewing business for local women.

The MBA Challenge Video Contest invited current and recently graduated MBA students to make an innovative video of up to six minutes, demonstrating how they are applying their business skills to change lives in the developing world. More than 15,000 online votes were submitted in April to select the five finalists out of the dozen videos submitted. The final judging was completed by a panel of business school deans, executives and others.
