Sir, Despite its lurid headline that “The end is nigh and plutocrats are on the run” (February 4), your editorial actually tells us that, given enough money, citizenship and passports abound for the very well off. You ought to have simply confirmed what your readers already know to be true; the very wealthy can be both citizens of everywhere (for pleasure and profit) and nowhere (for civic duty and taxes) at the same time.

Those of a lesser station, who are thus imprisoned within the borders of their birth, have the choice either to become migrants in a world that has become increasingly hostile to them or to accept that they are to serve, as they did in the recent financial crisis, as the ultimate backstops for the wealth of the speculators and manipulators.
