Founded by Colombian expats in Brussels, La Chiva Gantiva combines folkloric Colombian elements (champeta, chirimia and maple, played on tambora alegre, llamador and maracones) with rock, rap and funk.

The songs wittily play with and deconstruct South American stereotypes. Their live show is hugely energetic; on album, the relentlessness of the rhythms is initially engaging but ultimately tiring.
