“Although the room was spinning I was never confused,” Damien Jurado sings, an apt evocation of the Seattle man’s trip back in time to the calmer shores of psychedelia, accompanied by producer Richard Swift of The Shins.

“Magic Number” is gently fried 1960s orchestral pop, “Jericho Road” marches grandly into a spaghetti western vista of chiming bells and drums while “Silver Donna” sets Jurado’s high vocals to hypnotically pattering percussion. The homage is immaculately realised and wholly believable.
